Incense night at the lodge (Incense of the Tree of Life) Zodiac and Planets and Elements

 Who does not love incense night at the lodge? Other than my wife, that is.

NBC night it is, Nuclear, biological, chemical warfare, it is.

I am not saying that my wife, Khari, has issues surrounding incense; I am saying, volumes. While I came up through the ranks being trained by instructors who joked that if you could see the person across the Temple, there wasn't enough incense, Khari had an inhaler at one point in her life. So I don't burn as much incense as I used to, just saying.

Here is a list of incense recipes . . . because I occasionally misplace my books . . . and my blog tends to stay exactly here, where I left it, so pardon me for using my digital space to keep notes for myself. Hate me for being pretty, why don't you?

Tree of Life 

Kether: 

3 parts Chamomile
2 parts each of Rosemary and Yarrow
1 part of Sage
10 drops of Cinnamon oil per 1/4 cup of dry mixture

Binah (non-poisonous):

3 parts raisins
2 parts each of Frankincense, Myrrh, and Patchouli*
1 part Jasmine flowers

Binah--poisonous version--burn outside only--substitute Hellebore for the Patchouli.

Chokmah:

2 parts each of Vertivert, Peppermint, Fennel (or 10 drops Fennel oil per 1/4 cup dry mix)
1 part each of Frankenincense and St. Johnswort

Chesed:

2 parts each of Wood Betony and Cedar
1/2 part of Hyssop
1 part each of Anise, Poppy seeds, Cinnamon powder
8 drops of Nutmeg essential oil per dry mixture

Geburah:

2 parts each of Mustard seed, Pine needles or bark, Tobacco (or Patchouli)
1 part each of Pennyroyal, Basil, and Mace (or 8 drops Nutmeg oil per 1/4 cup of dry mix)

Tiphareth--Dark Side (for use to invoke evil spirits and casting hexes--sic):

Dittany of Crete (Mint), Pine, Myrrh, Dragon's Blood, Patchouli, and Balm of Peru

Netzach:

2 parts each of Rose petals, and dried ground banana
1 part each of Red Sandalwood, Vervain, Vetivert, and Strawberry leaves

Suggestions for Dried Banana include premade chips and a 200 degree oven; good luck.

Hod:

3 parts each of Mace and Pistachios (shelled)
2 parts Lavender
1 part Fennel

Yesod:

4 parts Jasmine flowers, finely chopped
2 parts each of White Sandalwood and Myrrh
1 part fresh ground Coconut

Malkuth:

2 parts each of Cypress, Cedar, and Magnolia flowers
1 part each of Pine and Poppy seeds (any color)

Still not enough smoke for the French, or the Norse.

Planets

Saturn: 

2 parts Frankincense
2 parts Poppy seed
1 part Gum Arabic
1 part Myrrh
1/2 part Tobacco 
a few drops Olive Oil

Jupiter:

1 part Clove
1 part Nutmeg
1 part Cinnamon
1/2 part Lemon Balm
1/4 part dried Lemon peel
1/4 part dried orange peel

Mars:

4 parts benzoin
1 part pine needles (or resin)
a light pinch black pepper

Earth (as a planet): 

Equal parts Pine Needles and Thyme
A few drops Patchouli oil

Venus:

3 parts Wood Aloe 
1 part Red Rose petals
a few drops each of Olive, Musk and Ambergris oils

Mercury:

2 parts Benzoin
1 part Mace
1/2 part Marjoram
a few drops Lavender oil

Moon:

2 parts Frankincense
1 part Sandalwood
a few drops each of Eucalyptus, Jasmine, and Camphor oils

Sun:

3 parts Frankincense
2 parts Sandalwood
1 part Bay
1 pinch Saffron
a few drops Orange oil

Zodiac

Aries:

2 parts Frankincense
1 part Juniper
3 drops Carnation oil

Taurus:

2 parts Sandalwood
2 parts Benzoin
a few drops Rose oil

Gemini:

2 parts Gum Mastic
1 part mixed orange and lemon peel
1/2 part Mace

Cancer:

2 parts Myrrh
1 part Sandalwood
1 part Eucalyptus
1 part Lemon peel (or a few drops Lemon oil) 

Leo:

2 parts Gum Mastic
1 part Sandalwood
1 part Juniper berries

Virgo:

1 part Mace
1 part Cypress
a few drops Patchouly oil

Libra:

2 parts Sandalwood
1 part Thyme
a few drops Rose oil

Sagittarius:

2 parts Frankincense
1 part Myrrh
1 part Clove

Scorpio:

2 parts Frankincense
1 part Galangal
1 part pine resin (pitch) 

Capricorn:

2 parts Sandalwood 
1 part Benzoin
a few drops Patchouly oil

Aquarius:

1 part Sandalwood
1 part Cypress
1 part Pine resin

Pisces:

2 parts Frankincense
1 part Eucalyptus
1 part Lemon peel
a few drops Sandalwood oil 

Elements

Spirit:

There is no such beast as fine as I know. 

Fire:

3 parts Frankincense
2 parts Dragon's Blood
1 part Red Sandalwood
1 pinch Saffron
a few drops Musk oil

Water:

2 parts Benzoin
1 part each of Myrrh and Sandalwood
a few drops each of Lotus oil and Ambergris oil

Air (poisonous!):

4 parts Benzoin
2 parts Gum Mastic
1 part Lavender
1 pinch Wormwood (poisonous)
1 pinch Mistletoe (also poisonous) 

Earth (as an Element): 

2 parts pine resin (pitch) or needles
1 part Patchouli
1 pinch finely powdered salt
a few drops Cypress oil

Still not enough smoke--bring me more incense!!!!

Why my wife is polyamourous and I am not (Let us discuss my dissociative disorder)

Occasionally, my wife will say that we are polyamourous. Correction: Khari is poly; I am not. She is free to date whoever she wants to. I, on the other hand, am a Hermit. This is not the first Wicca/Thelemic relationship that I have been in that had this unequal standard, and it's mainly about the fact that I am a really broken person, emotional that is. Due to the child abuse that I suffered (thanks Mom), I was showing signs of suffering dissociative disorder as early as kindergarten. Yeah, I have never been fully able to connect emotionally with another human being. So all of my relationships, from friendships on up, have suffered from my inability to be fully in the moment with another person. Which everyone can detect. And it makes all my partners upset.
